If, come March, you hear a person complain about there being nothing to do in Perth then it just means that they haven’t tried hard enough. To be socially active in our city through summer should involve as little planning as rolling over and falling out of bed. One of the best summer playgrounds has to be the Fringeworld Festival. Now in it’s 3rd year, the ‘Fringe’, under the guidance of it’s mother Artrage, has continued a rich tradition of creating lively, vibrant and fun venues in corners of our city that at all other times are considered somewhat lifeless, dark or even scary. This year’s “Fringe” saw 1800 artists performing in 450 shows across more than 60 venues and took a record-breaking $3.2 million in box office sales. The ‘Fringe’ officially finished last Sunday night but so popular is the event that an encore period of two weeks has been announced for venues in the Urban Orchard at the Perth Cultural Centre. Combine Fringeworld with the Perth International Art Festival and all the music festivals that play in Perth around this time of the year and the term “Dullsville” is somewhat obsolete. If you haven’t yet committed to any of the hundreds of acts in Perth then t’s not too late just head to PIAF’s website, buy a ticket and take the plunge. And one night this week you should really head to the Urban Orchard (opposite the entry to the Art Gallery of WA) and wander free, for free, grab a drink, a bite […]

And one night this week you should really head to the Urban Orchard (opposite the entry to the Art Gallery of WA) and wander free, for free, grab a drink, a bite to eat (yes, it’s true we’re allowed to eat AND drink there!!) and just absorb some of the festival’s great character.
